Mechanical Problems
Mechanical problems such as Paint coming out the top of the fluid section is a good sign there is a need for packings.
If your pump is not building pressure or holding pressure that is a good sign there is a need for a valve, packings, piston rod, or even the sleeve. The rod and Sleeve usually don't go back for a long time, but they can get pitting and scratched and they must be replaced. If the prime valve is leaking or the pump won't switch from Prime to Spray there is a few options, Usually the o-ring is worn out and you need a new prime valve, the needle getting worn out happens often as well and that will cause leaking, switching from prime to spray, it will have to be replaced.
Electrical Problems
Electrical problems, such as the pump not turning on, lights flickering, tripping breakers, or smoke from the control board are a very bad sign. This can almost always be a bad board that needs to be replaced (3 year warranty). Other problems it could be is a bad power cord or on off switch, very easy, fast repair.

TRANSDUCER PROBLEMS

Transducers control the amount of pressure the board is allowed to put out, usually 3000-3300 psi. If these go back and you have a gauge on your pump, if it is reading over that psi it will be a bad transducer and need to be replaced as it is a very serious safety hazard. Another way to tell if the tranducer is bad is if the pump won't even turn on anymore, although this could be the motor or the control board as well

Motor Problems

Motor problems can be a sign of a few things, same as the control boards, if the pump isn't turning on, or you're hearing weird noises from the motor, it will have to be replaced. If it has brushes and the brushes are worn out they will need to be replaced, or the motor (lifetime warranty). Motors can also have a bad spot which can be checked if it won't turn on and you move the fan and it doesn't turn on still it's most likely a bad motor.
